Bordeaux Grand Cru Discovery
Friday 14th May
Due to the May Holiday, our May event has been rescheduled for Friday 14th May.
Join us as the Club returns once again to Kee for a fantastic evening of fine dining and even finer wines, as we embark on an oenological journey through Bordeaux.
Bernard Magrez is a notable powerhouse in the international wine industry, based in Bordeaux but producing wine all over the world. The heart of his operation consists of four Grand Cru Classés properties:
- Château Pape Clément in Pessag-Léognan
- Château La Tour Carnet in the Haut-Médoc
- Château Fombrauge in Saint-Emilion
- Clos Haut-Peyraguey in Sauternes
In a departure from our standard ‘free-flow’ F&B format, we will be partaking in a five course set tasting menu, expertly paired with wines from all Bernard Magrez Grand Cru Classés as well as some of his other wineries.
Our guest speaker, Pierrick Fayoux, will be introducing the wines throughout the evening, providing history of the estates sampled as well as tasting notes.
We will then be treated to a “Discovery of Bordeaux” presentation:
- Bordeaux geography and wine making regions
- What differentiates the wines from each?
- What are the Grand Cru Designations?
- What’s the difference between a ‘Château’ and a ‘Clos’?
- History of the wine trade and wine making in Bordeaux
- Overseas expansion into international markets
- What does the future hold for Bordeaux winemaking
Due to both the nature of the event and venue limitations, there is a maximum capacity for only 22 spaces. The event will therefore initially only be open to Club Members, with interested Guests placed on a waitlist until the members’ sign-up window expires.
In response to feedback received at the AGM, the Club is pleased to subsidise this event for members.
