Donation 2024/02/28: Yixicuomu
Introduction
Your generosity is wonderful. You have helped so many children get the heart surgery they needed and now another can be added to that list utilizing your February donation. This new child is an 8 year old girl from Tibet - Yixicuomu (H2H Child #3221). During a physical examination at Yixicuomu's school earlier in 2024, she was found to have congenital heart disease. Her family had no idea she had the problem and didn't have the means to get her the heart surgery she needed.
Yixicuomu lives with her Tibetan minority parents in a self-built house in rural Tibet. Her mother takes care of the family. Her father looks after their livestock and often spends long periods away from home finding grazing areas. He makes very little money since they don't have much livestock and rarely have enough to sell one. They normally subsist on the RMB 8,000/year that government subsidies they are given. They have a debt of about RMB 40,000 which they accrued from purchasing necessities and Yixicuomu's tuition fees. They had no way to raise or borrow the money needed for heart surgery.
Your donation enabled her to have the heart surgery she needed on September 20. She has recovered quickly from that surgery and is ready for visitors. If you'd like to come meet her while she is still in the hospital in Shanghai, just let me know. I'm positive she'd love to meet you and I know you will never forget her. She is a lovely little girl.
After Surgery
Yixicuomu is such a lovely, kind girl. She's always smiling at everyone. It was easy to love such a little patient who went about her trials without complaint. Thank you so much for helping her get the heart surgery she needed so much. She would not have been able to have it without your assistance. I'm sorry that you didn't get to visit her before she left Shanghai. I know her family definitely wanted to thank you for what you did for her. We're glad she's all well now, but she will be missed.
Yixicuomu passed all of her post-surgery tests right after the holiday and is now on her way home to Tibet. I'm sure she will have a great homecoming. After getting home, she should recover steadily. Within 3-6 months, she should be off all heart medication and should be able to start doing whatever she wants physically. I know that her family is looking forward to this new life for her and the possibilities she now has.
You have totally changed her future. I'm sure that neither she nor her family will ever forget this opportunity for life that you've given her. Thank you!
