Join the next Shanghai Savage Club Long Lunch on Friday, July 4 with guest speaker Ingmar Potenza. He will capture the zeitgeist of summer, a time of travel and adventure, with his talk titled, "Life Cycle: or How Learning to Bike Changes the Perspective."
Ingmar started riding motorbikes 30 years ago as an early teenager, and has never really stopped since. From menial commuting to the adventurous escapes of his younger years in Italy; from the dreams of maturity to the grinding deliveries in the United Kingdom at 30; and from the "laowai on the streets" to new heights on the track in China after hitting 40.
His talk will cover three main themes: Why we ride, and what it is that makes a clearly irrational and uncomfortable activity such a compelling part of life; motorcycling in China and more importantly, in Shanghai; and, the ever-important differences between riding on the track and on the road. Just be forewarned -- after this presentation, you may find yourself wanting to get on the road for some adventure of your own!
The lunch will be at Abbey Road, where we can enjoy the patio before and after the event, with classic lunch dishes! We hope to see you there.
